Bombay High Court Live Streaming Launched: CJI BR Gavai Inaugurates YouTube Broadcast of Court Proceedings

Mumbai, [July 05, 2025] — In a significant move to enhance transparency and public access to the judiciary, Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai on Saturday formally launched the live streaming of Bombay High Court proceedings on YouTube.

The new service will initially cover hearings and proceedings before five designated benches of the High Court.

The first five benches selected for live streaming are:

  1. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep V Marne
  2. Justice R P Mohite-Dere and Justice Dr Neela Kedar Gokhale
  3. Justice M S Sonak and Justice Jitendra Shantilal Jain
  4. Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice M M Sathaye
  5. Justice A S Gadkari and Justice Rajesh S Patil

Chief Justice Alok Aradhe had earlier indicated that technical preparations were underway to begin Bombay High Court Live Streaming court proceedings. With Saturday’s formal inauguration by the CJI, the public can now watch select benches live on YouTube.

As part of the same initiative, free Wi-Fi and internet facilities will also be installed in the High Court premises for the benefit of lawyers, litigants, and the public.

Bombay High Court joins the ranks of other High Courts across the country that have already made live streaming a reality. These include the Gujarat High Court, Karnataka High Court, Gauhati High Court, Calcutta High Court, Telangana High Court, Orissa High Court, and several others.

In addition to dedicated YouTube streaming, certain High Courts do not restrict public access to their hybrid hearing links, further promoting openness in judicial proceedings.

At the national level, the Supreme Court of India has also begun live streaming Constitution Bench hearings, marking a historic shift in how the public can engage with and observe the functioning of the judiciary.
